Practice: Rotopaint Cats Eye

Since work on the assessment pieces will be starting soon, it is always good to get in some practice. What is being attempted in this blog post is to take this picture of a woman (all pictures are provided from material given in lectures), and replace her eye with that of a cats.

So first the image of the woman is read into nuke and a rotopaint node is created, and then go on to paint out the eye:
And then by using a mixture of the transform node and the reformat node, the placed the cats eye can be placed where ever it needs to be. Then turne onion on so that the cats eye can be placed more accurately behind the eye lids of the woman:
The final result is this:

It requires a bit of fine tuning around the edges, but so far it doesn't look bad. Along with updates on how the assessment pieces are coming along, blog posts regarding research and practice pieces will also be posted on this blog over the coming weeks.

Note: If this piece were to be do this piece again, the use of a computer with a mouse would be much better than using a laptop with a trackpad. This would allow for more accurate rotopainting around the edge of the eye, it is clear in the picture that there is room for improvement.
