VFX1 - DD1410: Brief 01 And Brief 02 Research

When looking into the briefs for this assessment, it becomes clear that the footage for Briefs 01 and 02 it isn't based of a completely original idea. These types of shows have been around for years, they were very popular in the late 1990's. So in order to achieve the best results, looking back at these shows is important.

Even something as simple as the altar scene in Brief 01, how do we know how the place is lit? Does it have a certain magical aura surrounding it?

Looking at this image below, it shows the headquarters from 'Power Rangers Turbo':

Now compare it to this picture of the same base (from a different angle):

The whole scene look completely different, it is much darker and certain areas are more illuminated. There is a chance that this is the type of look that would work in Brief 01 and 02.

Now for the fight sequence, although the footage only shows them preparing to fight, again this style has been used time and time again, lets look at two clips from old TV shows:
The First being from 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers'
The second being from 'Beetleborgs'
Both have over exaggerated fight scenes, and from many years of watching the likes of 'Power Rangers',  The whole witty, confident, moving arms around in a kung-fu style fight opening on children's TV shows has been done countless times. Now the footage in the Briefs may not aim to look like 'Power Rangers', but it would look better with some toned down lighting and obviously we have to take out all the effects that would normally surround the futuristic machines and weapons, but the primary effects used in these shows still stands, they want to make the characters martial arts skills seem incredible, so frames would be taken out in order to give the arms movements that sudden jerking motion when they are preparing to fight. It is done all the time.

Note: Brief 02, talk about cutting frames when the characters start their martial arts arm movements,
Brief 01, Roto anything that looks like it could glow and for both, tone down certain areas of the background (particularly in Brief 01 when they are in the altar room in the cave).
